Media trawlings of a tepid nature.

Trawling through the drivel of "news" I came across the story(and YouTube video) of Melbourne's Myer Christmas Windows "Koala Wardrobe Malfunction"... don't let the kiddies watch, they'll have nightmares of marsupials starring in strip clubs next.According to my sources the offending koala has disappeared...relegated to the ticket office of a near-by adult cinema perhaps ?
Great story of a Maremma not just protecting chooks but now protecting a whole island of penguins. A Happy Feat indeed !
The news that a new dried fruit player is entering the market should thrill Trundling Grunt no end ;)
Ohhh to be dumped on ...by the perfect storm that dumped bucket loads at Esperance W.A this week.Spose Cyclone Isobel was good for something (ciao Bella !),unlike thieves stealing water from even school water tanks.
Now for the BIG Question of the week...
Why oh why do weeds flourish while the rest of the back lawn dies?
I'm happy for the lawn to perish...I have PLANS for that space...but weeds seemingly keep on keeping on,through searing sun, with no water...not even succumbing to acidic dog wee !
The front lawn died a quick but painful death(those blisters on my hands were damn painful!) and is now covered in river pebbles and plants that survive on just what falls from the sky (the regular bird droppings, ocassional blue ice from overhead planes and that very Rare Event - rain).Even the stout weeds in the front yard have begun to shrivel in the heat, gasping their last chlorophyll-filled gasp, finally admitting defeat in the face of unrelentless Summer sun.
Mum's gardenia bush survives beautifully on neglect,as does her Port Wine Magnolia,Banksia Climbing Roses,Lavender bushes, carpet roses that have become climbing roses and Dad's umpteen rose bushes(last count was 20something,before the lavender annexed the south from view).
But weeds in a lawn will probably outlive the cockroaches post-nuclear attack !
