where did this year go ?!

Sitting here trying to figure out what heck I've achieved in 2006 and...I got nothing !
Got adopted by a new pup Treacle, who has trained me very well thus far....lost 2 chooks, bought another(named Cabbage) who perches every night on top of our lytch gate...we await the falling of the eggs but have yet to be surprised.
The vegie garden is coming up to scratch nicely....the new water barrels are s-l-o-w-l-y filling up...the cacti garden is going off like a frog in a sock....cats are not impressed with Treacle who insists on rounding them up(shades of Maggie Doyle Blue Heeler coming out there I fear).
Renovated the house....painted walls, sanded and polished floors, restored some furniture....still have many rooms and far too much furniture needing restoration demanding my attention.
Rearranged the garden front and back...the possums aren't impressed and those bloody neighbours have been building the Taj Mahal up to our fence line, for centuries now it seems.Pfft and they had the gall to screech about birds in our trees making a noise !!!!
Ahh well I shouldn't complain - I've got magpies trained to come to the garden for brekkie, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, tea, supper and just a general chat to inspect these strange 2 legged things that feed them. Tis a tad unnerving to have a maggie sit within 1 foot of your face inspecting you intensely....and no doubt critiquing you to the other maggies "nah this one's a bit on the chewy side and looks like it could put up a feeble fight in a wet paper bag"
The school opposite (known as The School That Ate a Suburb) is still building...I'm waiting for one of the cats to drag one of the 2 legged rats(in uniform) home to gnaw on,on the front step one day.
Tara the 14 year old pup is rediscovering Spring and vim with Treacle around...bit of sun on an arthritic back and Tara gives her a run for her money...round the lemon tree, twice up the sideway, down via the pool fence and back behind the pear tree....gawd it's exhausting watching an elderly dog run about !
The Resident Possum( as opposed to the yard possum, lower case) is not happy and informed us in no uncertain terms...jumping about LOUDLY at midnight to protest at us waking him early before his mad furry love orgy amidst the birch trees in the neighbours yard (and generally putting him off his stroke I imagine). The fruit bats have been gathering in increasing numbers in the neighbours birch trees of late....could be an interesting show down between furry love crazed possum and upside down flying rat in black... "set against the blood red sunset of a suburban backyard, every night the battle is fought for the outlying twigs of a spindly tree(and the occassional overlooked seed pod) between Dreaded Fred the Fruitbat and Ferocious Fluffball the Possum ! Watch their acrobatics ! Gasp at their vocal range ! Cringe at their daring do ! Bite your nails at their action packed meetings ! And then ....you're free to watch the 6pm news".
